While on my journey to rid harsh, toxic chemicals from my life, I switched to a more natural skincare routine. It has helped SO much! My skin doesn’t get dry, flaky, or irritated. My skin feels soft and moisturized, and it doesn’t clog my pores. I also don’t have to worry about all the toxic chemicals getting into my body and causing other health issues down the road.

This skincare routine helps me maintain my clear skin. If you want to read about how I cleared my acne for good, click here.

Now I will warn you, my skincare routine does include products with oil in them, however, they are natural, good for your skin kinds of oils. They aren’t processed, super clogging oils and in fact, the oils help break down hardened sebum in my pores and clear them out. I’ve been using this skincare routine for about a year now and my skin has never looked better! Keep reading if you want to know what I do to keep my skin clear and balanced.

Morning Non-Toxic Skincare Routine

To start off my skincare routine, every morning, I wash my face with the Nourish Organic Moisturizing Cream Face Cleanser*. There are literally no chemicals or toxic ingredients in this cleanser. It’s made with aloe which is very soothing and moisturizing, cucumber which is hydrating and soothing, watercress which has lots of antioxidants to protect the skin, and coconut oil which is very soothing and moisturizing.  There’s also a bunch of other organic oils in it. It doesn’t clog my pores and my skin feels very moisturized without feeling oily. I highly recommend this cleanser if you have dry or sensitive skin!

This skincare routine is great for acne prone skin. I used to suffer from severe cystic acne and this non-toxic routine works wonders for my sensitive skin!

The next step in my skincare routine is moisturizing with the Nourish Organic Ultra Hydrating Face Cream, Argan & Pomegranate*. I used to use the 100% Pure Red Wine Resveratrol Nourishing Cream which I really loved and I highly recommend if you can afford it! However, I can not afford to keep spending $46 on a little tube of moisturizer. So I switched to the Nourish Organic cream and haven’t turned back. It moisturizes really well and doesn’t leave my face feeling greasy. It’s USDA Organic and cruelty free. It’s wayyy more affordable at about than the 100% Pure cream. But most importantly, it doesn’t break me out at all! I seriously LOVE this moisturizer!

Evening Non-Toxic Skincare Routine

At night, I like to exfoliate my skin with the Alba Botanica Acnedote, Face & Body Scrub*. Exfoliating is such an important step in my skincare routine! It removes any flakes of dry skin and helps break down any gunk stuck in my pores. I exfoliate every night, but I know it irritates some people’s skin, so do what works for you. There is salicylic acid in it,  but it doesn’t bother my skin. It really helps keep it clear and makes my skin feel really fresh and clean. Also, when I do have a breakout occasionally, this scrub helps clear it up within a day or two. The only thing about this scrub is there are a few ingredients I’m not crazy about. But the majority of the ingredients are good and it’s made without parabens, synthetic fragrance, and sodium lauryl sulfate which are ingredients I ALWAYS try to avoid.

This skincare routine is great for acne prone skin. I used to suffer from severe cystic acne and this non-toxic routine works wonders for my sensitive skin!

Lastly, I moisturize with the Nourish Organic Ultra Hydrating Face Cream, Argan & Pomegranate again. This moisturizer just works really well for me.

Extra Skincare Steps (if needed)

If I have any breakouts, I like to spot treat them after I wash  my face at night with a little bit of Tea Tree Oil. I like to use the Desert Essence Tea Tree Oil *. I just dip a q-tip in the bottle and dot a little bit on my pimples. It dries them right up! If you have super sensitive skin, I recommend diluting tea tree oil before applying it because it is VERY potent!

If my skin is feeling dry (which happens sometimes during the fall and winter months,) I like to moisturize before I go to bed with a little bit of Coconut Oil instead of the Nourish Organic cream. I buy the Whole Foods 365 brand of Organic Unrefined Coconut Oil. But any unrefined organic coconut oil* will be good and moisturizing. I just take a little pea sized amount and rub it on the palms of my hands and press it on my face. I also take a little bit around my eye area as an eye cream. Coconut oil is very soothing, moisturizing, and it has antibacterial properties. My skin always feels so soft the morning after I use coconut oil!

When you think of a snack, what kind of food do yo When you think of a snack, what kind of food do you think of? One of my girlfriends asked me this morning what some healthy snack options are besides protein bars and I realized, so many people associate snacks with packaged food...quick grab and go things like a bag of potato chips, granola bars (loaded with sugar), snack cakes, fruit snacks, popcorn, etc.

Snacks don’t have to be junk and snacks can be quick, easy, and made with REAL FOOD!

Swipe through for some of my favorite snacks!

🥑 Avocado Toast: I use @foodforlifebaking sprouted grains gluten free bread, spread a ripe avocado on it, and top it with some everything bagel seasoning. To pack for work, I pack the avocado separately then spread it over the toast when I’m ready to eat it.

🥜 Rice Cake & Nut Butter: I use @lundbergfarms rice cakes and top it with some peanut butter or almond butter. Sometimes, I even add cacao nibs on top.

🍇 Yogurt & Fruit: I like the @foragerproject plain cashew yogurt and I add blueberries to it!

🍌 Banana (or other fruit) & Nut Butter: One of the quickest, go-to snacks for me is peanut butter and banana. It’s sweet, salty, and filling! I use organic, natural peanut butter (the only ingredient should be peanuts).

🥕 Hummus and Veggies or Crackers (or both): I love the Wegmans red pepper hummus (check the ingredients...the one I like is made with olive oil, the others are made with canola oil 🤢) paired with @marysgonecrackers or organic veggies!

Regenerative Agriculture can pretty much save the Regenerative Agriculture can pretty much save the planet 🌎

Me and a few of my girlfriends went to a pumpkin patch with a corn maze and the clues through the corn maze were all about regenerative agriculture!

Regenerative agriculture doesn’t use pesticides or herbicides like roundup which add loads of toxic chemicals into the environment and our food. They don’t till the land which depletes the soil. The soil then turns to dirt which you can’t grow anything in. Dirt also doesn’t absorb water the way soil does which can lead to natural disasters like floods and fires. No monocropping...diversifying your crops produces more food and if you plan accordingly, crops can help other crops grow by protecting them from pests or even too much sunlight!

Random post for a Sunday night, but visiting a farm that uses regenerative agriculture was inspiring and reminded me why it’s so important and how much work we need to do to fix our food system! 🌾🌽🥦🍅🥕

🌱Today is Health Coach Day!!!🌱 My journey s 🌱Today is Health Coach Day!!!🌱

My journey started about 10 years ago with my skin issues, which turned out to be gut issues manifesting in my skin.

The gut issues I was having was due to a poor, gluten heavy diet. My body was struggling to properly digest gluten which was causing me sinus issues and headaches on top of my skin problems.

I cut out gluten, healed my gut, and cured my acne, headaches, sinus problems, and allergies! These problems are all caused by inflammation! Most chronic illnesses are caused my inflammation and if you don’t address the source and just take a pill to mask the symptoms, you will never be cured.

I’m so thankful for my journey, because it led me to @nutritionschool where I learned how to help others heal themselves and reach their health and wellness goals!
