If you’re in your 20’s or 30’s you should definitely have an anti-aging skincare routine! By this age, you shouldn’t be struggling with acne anymore (if you are check out this post), so you don’t need to be using drying, irritating acne products. You want to be using products that are gentle, that have ingredients to prevent aging, and that don’t have cheap fillers and toxic preservatives (or other toxic chemicals in them.)

I’m OBSESSED with my skincare routine! My skin has never looked so good. If you asked me 10 years ago if I’d ever get compliments on my skin, I’d be like “are you crazy??!” I still struggled with acne, my skin texture was extremely uneven due to scars as well as the acne, my skin was flaky dry, and it was always red and irritated.
This post talking about skin issues might seem vain and superficial to someone who’s never struggled with difficult skin as the way you look doesn’t define you however, to someone who’s struggling with bad skin, it can take a toll on their mental well-being and can cause low self-esteem, depression, and anxiety.
Quick story, the first time I was complimented by a stranger on my skin, I was at a concert in 2017. She was in line next to me to go in and she looks at me and goes, “Wow, you have really nice skin!” I started looking behind me because I didn’t dream she was talking to me. No one was behind me and she goes, “no, you! Your skin is so smooth! I wish mine looked like that.” That was the first time I realized I don’t have horrible cystic acne anymore and when people look at me, they’re not seeing my acne or scar covered face!
So, fast forward 10 years from when my skin was at its worst and strangers think I’m 20 or even younger (I’m 29), girls compliment my skin, and even better, I’m extremely happy with my skin! If you want to know what I do to age in reverse, keep reading!

My skincare routine is majority Crunchi! Crunchi is completely toxin free and free of all harsh, damaging chemicals. Crunchi is full of skin loving, nourishing ingredients!
I wash my face every morning and night with Crunchi’s Charcoal Facial Bar.
The Charcoal Facial Bar has charcoal and kaolin clay to detoxify your skin and remove impurities. It also contains Organic Lemon and Tea Tree Oil which not only provides a refreshing scent, but tea tree oil helps combat breakouts too!
Then I apply Crunchi’s Clarilight Facial Essence.
Clarilight contains Birch which helps your complexion glow, Willow which improves skin tone, Fruit Extracts which contain AHA, Hyaluronic Acid which reduces fine lines and wrinkles, Green Tea Extract which delivers antioxidants to the skin, and Aloe which soothes sensitive skin! Wow this is jam packed with amazing, skin loving ingredients! I highly recommend Clarilight for your toner!
In the morning, I use Crunchi’s Daylight moisturizer after Clarilight.
This moisturizer is so lightweight which is perfect for under your makeup. Even though it’s lightweight, it provides so much moisture to the skin. Daylight contains nutrient-rich organic jojoba, sunflower, avocado and sesame oils which soften and moisturize the skin. It also contains organic acai, goji, thyme and rosemary which are full of antioxidants. Antioxidants help protect the skin from environmental stressors.
At night, I use Crunchi’s Nightlight moisturizer after Clarilight.
Nightlight is such an amazing night time moisturizer! It’s nice and creamy which makes your skin feel moisturized. Nightlight contains hibiscus flower acid in which rejuvenates the skin. It also contains organic jojoba oil, organic argan oil, and antioxidant-rich rose petals, ginkgo biloba, and sage, which helps the skin appear radiant! It also protects against daily environmental stressors.
I use Crunchi’s Powerlight Eye Cream on my eyes morning and night too!
I’ve got A LOT to say about Powerlight! This eye cream is amazing! It helps reduce the appearance of fine lines and crows feet, but it also helped the eczema on my eyes SO MUCH! Powerlight contains Hyaluronic Acid which plumps up fine lines and wrinkles, Squalane which locks in moisture, Peptides which reduce the appearance of crows feet, Vitamin C which brightens the skin, and Caffine from Organic Green Tea which reduces under-eye puffiness.
Every other night, instead of washing my face with the facial bar, I use Acure’s Brightening Scrub.
This facial scrub contains sea kelp and French green clay which help soften, detox, and cleanse the skin. This scrub also contains Madonna Lily which helps brighten the skin. This scrub makes my skin feel so soft and smooth and it really does appear brighter!
When my skin is feeling or looking a little dull, I like to do a Bentonite Clay Mask.
The Aztec Secret Amazonian Clay Mask is the best! I mix it with apple cider vinegar diluted with water. The bentonite clay attracts toxins in the skin and draws them out. Also, once the mask starts to harden, your face will feel very tight as the mask is pulling impurities out of your pores. My face is always glowing the morning after using this mask! I try to do it once a week.
On top of having an amazing skincare routine, diet has A LOT to do with how your skin looks!
Here are some diet tips for beautiful, glowing skin.
Eat the rainbow! (I don’t mean skittles.) Get plenty of colorful fruits and vegetables in your diet. Try to eat a fruit or veggie in every color every day to make sure you’re getting plenty of nourishment!
Eat plenty of antioxidants. Antioxidants combat aging! Some antioxidant rich foods and drinks are blueberries, grapes, dark leafy greens, green tea, chaga tea. But this also goes with eating the rainbow. If you’re eating an array of colorful fruits and vegetables, you’ll definitely be getting plenty of antioxidants in your diet.
Limit refined sugar and refined carbs. A diet heavy in refined sugar and carbs will not only make you feel dull, but it will make your skin look dull too. (Refined sugar and refined carbs do nothing for your waistline either except make it grow.)
Don’t eat packaged foods! Typical packaged snack foods are full of preservatives (that’s why they last on the shelf so long.) Preservatives make your skin look thick and can contribute to the look of cellulite.
Here’s a trick I learned from my trainer…I’ve told my friends about this trick, they’ve tried it, and it’s held true. If you’re at a healthy weight but can’t seem to get a slimmer look (if that’s what you desire…it’s okay if you don’t!), pinch the skin on your arm. If it feels like there’s a thick layer beneath it, your body has too many preservatives built up. Try clean eating with real whole foods for 2 weeks and pinch your skin again. It should feel thinner. Your weight on the scale will probably be about the same but your skin won’t have a bunch of toxins built up under it. This will make your skin look smoother too!
Eat gut friendly foods (for your gut.) Not everyone’s gut health needs are the same. Some people have candida, some have leaky gut, some have trouble digesting gluten or dairy. But if your gut isn’t healthy, your skin won’t be healthy either. Gut issues manifest in the skin. If you’re having skin issues, get your gut in check!
In order to have healthy, glowing skin, you need to get your hormones in check too. If you have horrible time of the month issues (heavy periods, bad cramps, hormonal acne, severe mood swings), you definitely have a hormone imbalance of some sort. I highly recommend THIS BOOK to start getting your hormones in balance. And if you do have horrible time of the month issues, check out this post for natural, un-medicated tips to ease the pain while you get your hormones in check!
Also, our mental state can affect our skin too. If you’re in a constant state of stress, it effects your gut health which effects your skin. If you’re in a constant fight or flight mode, your mind thinks you’re in danger, so it tells your body to use its energy to survive. This releases excess hormones which throws off our entire microbiome. Spending just 5 minutes meditating every day or just doing a relaxing activity can lower your stress levels significantly.
Get plenty of good quality sleep! If your sleep is suffering, that also contributes to higher stress levels. If you’re having trouble sleeping, check out this post for tips on getting a good night’s sleep.
Modern times have complicated everything! For optimal health and wellness, we need to get back to simplicity. Our ancestors weren’t applying toxic chemicals to their skin every day, they weren’t cleaning with toxic products, and they weren’t eating over-processed food imitations…they were just eating REAL FOOD (that they probably grew and raised themselves.) Keep things simple and your skin (and body) will thank you!
