Affordable, Non-Toxic Makeup Collection!

Do you know what's in your makeup? My makeup collection is non-toxic and affordable. I have mostly eliminated toxic chemicals from my makeup collection. This is my affordable, non-toxic makeup collection.

I used to LOVE Urban Decay makeup products! Their eyeshadows were so pigmented, their primer made my makeup last all day, their setting spray gave me that freshly applied makeup look after touching up…Urban Decay was my favorite! I also really liked Urban Decay because they don’t test on animals. They are completely against animal cruelty. (Even if you’re not an animal lover, there is no reason to test products on animals as it’s not reliable. There’s also technology out there that works better to test ingredients in cosmetics.) Due to my love of Urban Decay, I did a LOT of presentations in high school and college on them.

My journey to non-toxic makeup started in college

In my college communications class, I was going to do one of my speeches on why animal testing in cosmetics is bad. In doing research for this presentation, I came across the Environmental Working Group’s website (EWG.) If you’ve never heard of EWG, they’re basically an organization that wants to protect human health and the environment. They have a lot of information on chemicals in every day products and how they are harmful to our bodies. They also have a database where you can look up specific products and they give a toxicity rating for them.

I started looking up my makeup and personal care products on the database and I was SHOCKED at the amount of harmful, toxic, cancerous chemicals I was using everyday. Even though Urban Decay might be nice to animals, their ingredients aren’t the nicest! (The first ingredient in their eyeshadows is Talc which is toxic!)  Ever since then, I’ve tried to eliminate as many harmful chemicals from my daily life as possible.

I finally have accumulated enough non-toxic makeup to do almost my entire face with! (I’m still on the hunt for a good non-toxic eyebrow pencil. If you know of any good ones, please let me know in the comments below!) All of my non-toxic makeup is extremely affordable! I’d say the prices of all my non-toxic makeup are similar to Revlon prices.

My Non-Toxic Makeup Collection

For my face, I use mostly Silk Naturals products. Their cream foundation and concealer are AMAZING!!! They have great coverage and they last all day. Just to give you an idea of Silk Naturals prices, their foundation is about $12 and their concealer is about $5.50. It’s SO affordable! I also have an IQ Naturals powder foundation which I like to wear on lazy days since it’s quick and easy to apply. I found IQ naturals on Amazon and it’s priced at about $12 as well. The face powder I use is the NYX loose translucent powder. The only ingredient in it is silica which is also one of the main ingredients in most natural, non-toxic powders. NYX isn’t a natural non-toxic brand, but it never hurts to check the ingredient label!

I have a few blushes and a bronzer. Once of the blushes is Silk Naturals called “Lady.” Pictured is the sample size! I have the full size as well, but Silk Naturals gives such generous samples that it’s not empty yet! I also have an IQ Naturals blush and I have a Silk Naturals bronzer (again in the sample size.) If you’re just starting to build your non-toxic makeup collection, I definitely recommend purchasing a few samples from Silk Naturals!

Silk Naturals has a lot of Urban Decay eyeshadow dupes!

The reason I started trying Silk Naturals products was because they have dupes for the most popular Urban Decay eyeshadow palettes! One of my go-to Urban Decay palettes was the Naked Basics palette for every day. When I saw Silk Naturals had a dupe for it, I immediately purchased it. The colors are almost exact!

In most of my Silk Naturals orders, they send me a generous eyeshadow sample and since I fell in love with the Naked Basics dupe (Bare Necessities), I purchased a few other shadows.

Even though I love Silk Naturals, the All Natural Face has some good products too!

The liquid eyeliner and eyeshadow primer I use are both from the All Natural Face. The All Natural Face is a very affordable non-toxic company as well. They have similar prices to Silk Naturals.

But, Silk Naturals has the BEST mascara EVER!!! Literally…their mascara is better than any chemical filled mascara I’ve ever used. It lengthens and thickens my lashes and removes very easily, but it doesn’t smudge off. It’s sooo good!!!

Silk Naturals has really good lip products as well. They have quite a few dupes of popular MAC lipsticks. And again, they’re so affordable! I do have one 100% Pure lipgloss that I got on clearance for $7. 100% Pure is definitely high end prices, but if you shop their clearance products, you can find some steals!

I hope this inspired you to try some non-toxic makeup products. It’s a good feeling to know that I’m not putting toxic chemicals on my face every morning. And if you’re just starting out, definitely check out Silk Naturals samples! If you want to see how I clean with non-toxic products, click here!
