It’s New Years Eve!!! I can’t believe 2018 is only a few hours away! Last night, I was looking through my journal from this time last year. I wrote about all the things I wanted to accomplish this year and all the goals I had for this year. I only accomplished ONE resolution! This time last year, I thought for sure I’d accomplish all of them. I realized a BIG part of me not accomplishing my goals for this year was lack of preparation and lack of time management. So, my BIGGEST resolution for 2018 is getting organized and managing my time better. In order to do that, I decided I’m going to start hard, core planning.
Ever since elementary school, I’ve had a planner. All through high school, the school gave us a planner to write our assignments in. In college, I always bought a planner every year to do the same thing. Once I graduated college, I started using a planner to write down important dates like for concerts or auditions. I would just pick up a basic planner from Walmart and call it a day. For 2018, since I’m really going to start planning everything, I did some research to find a planner I think will be good for my day-to-day life.
I chose the Bloom Daily Planner Passion/Goal Organizer in the Marble print. Bloom has their own website, but I got mine on Amazon since I have Amazon Prime. I chose this specific planner because it’s small enough for me to carry in my purse everyday and it has specific pages in the beginning to write down your goals for the year. Also, there’s cute motivational quotes throughout it (I love a good motivational quote!) I really like the idea of the Erin Condren planner or the Happy Planner, but I think they’d be too overwhelming for me at this point in my life. And they seem too big for me to want to carry in my purse everyday.
Although I’m using the Bloom planner, the Happy Planner makes great stickers! Plus, you can get them at Michael’s! (They were 50% off this past week!) This is my first time decorating a planner and I’m really happy with the way it turned out. I did the goal pages at the beginning, the monthly January calendar, and the first week of January.
Keep reading to see how I decorated my Bloom Daily Planner for the new year!
I started with the “Goals for This Year” page. The first thing I did was add some washi tape to add some color and design to the page. The great thing about washi tape is if you mess up laying it down, you can just peel it off and fix it! It doesn’t rip the page, it just comes right off!
Next I added some small stickers for decoration.
Then, I filled in my goals for the year!
The “Plan to Bloom in 2018” page was next!
I kept it simple on this page. I just added some washi tape and wrote down my plans.
Next, I filled in my January monthly calendar (what I know already)
I made sure to leave plenty of room to add to the calendar as the month goes on. All of the pages are done in the same washi tape, sticker, fill in order. I added some washi tape at the top of the page and I used it to block off a weekend that I have a Pro Cheer workshop.
Last, I planned the first week in January
I started with the washi tape first again.
I made a to-to list for everyday to help me stay on track. I’m hoping that by writing it down and actually planning when I’m going to clean certain things, or when I’m going to the grocery store, it will help me plan my time better. One thing I’m really trying to do this year is stop wasting my time! I feel like I waste so much time doing nothing. I’m hoping that by writing down all the things I need to get done, it will help me stay on track! In all the empty spaces, I added some stickers. I didn’t want to clutter the page too much though! I also colored some spots in just to add a little more color.
I’m really happy with the way this turned out! I’m excited to keep planning my weeks and get my life organized! If you like planning, leave a comment below and let me know your favorite place to get planner stickers from! I’m kind of addicted to buying them…HAHA! I hope everyone has a Happy, Successful New Year!!!
